10 Eminent Muslim Ancestors SALAT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. 1. Imaam Ahmad bin Hambal (Rahmatullah alaih) is<\/span>
    \n the famous Imaam of one, of the four schools of<\/span>
    \n Muslim jurisprudence. Besides being engaged in<\/span>
    \n his usual work, he used to offer daily three hundred<\/span>
    \n rakaats of nafl salaat. After he was lashed by<\/span>
    \n the king for refusal to submit to the royal edict, he<\/span>
    \n became very weak and reduced his routine nafl<\/span>
    \n salaat to one hundred and fifty rakaats. We should<\/span>
    \n not forget that he was eighty at that time.<\/span> 2. Imaam Shaafi’ee (Rahmatullah alaih) another eminent<\/span>
    \n Imaam of Muslim jurisprudence, used to<\/span>
    \n finish reciting the Qur’an sixty times in his salaat<\/span>
    \n during Ramadhaan. A person narrates, “I remained<\/span>
    \n with Imaam Shaafi’ee for several days and<\/span>
    \n found him sleeping only for a while at night.”<\/span><\/p>\n

    3. Imaam Abu Haneefa (Rahmatullah alaih) is famous<\/span>
    \n for his vigil. It is said that for thirty, forty or fifty<\/span>
    \n years (according to the information of different<\/span>
    \n narrators) he offered his Fajr prayer with the<\/span>
    \n wudhu for Ishaa. He would go to sleep only for a<\/span>
    \n few minutes in the afternoon saying, “It is sunnat<\/span>
    \n to sleep in the afternoon.”<\/span><\/p>\n

    4. It is said about Sa’eed bin Musayyab (Rahmatullah<\/span>
    \n alaih) that for fifty years he offered his Fajr salaat<\/span>
    \n with the wudhu performed at Ishaa.<\/span>
    \n Imaam Ghazzali (Rahmatullah alaih) on the authority<\/span>
    \n of Abu Taalib Makki reported the same practice<\/span>
    \n by no less than forty Taabi’ees, some of whom<\/span>
    \n had been doing it for forty years continuously.<\/span><\/p>\n

    5. Muhammad bin Nasr (Rahmatullah alaih) is a<\/span>
    \n famous Muhaddith. His devotion to salaat had noparallel. Once while in salaat, he was stung on his<\/span>
    \n forehead by a wasp and though blood came out,<\/span>
    \n neither did he stir nor did he allow it to disturb<\/span>
    \n his devotion in salaat. It is said that in salaat, he<\/span>
    \n stood motionless like a stick planted in the<\/span>
    \n ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

    6. It is reported about Baqi bin Mukhallid (Rahmatullah<\/span>
    \n alaih) that he used to recite the complete<\/span>
    \n Qur’an every night in thirteen rakaats of Tahajjud<\/span>
    \n and Witr.<\/span><\/p>\n

    7. Hannaad (Rahmatullah alaih) is a Muhaddith. One<\/span>
    \n of his pupils narrates, “Hannaad used to weep<\/span>
    \n very much. One day after he had finished our<\/span>
    \n lesson in the morning, he continued to offer nafl<\/span>
    \n salaat till midday. He went to his place for a short<\/span>
    \n interval and then returned for his Zuhr. He again<\/span>
    \n engaged himself in nafl salaat till Asr. Between<\/span>
    \n Asr and Maghrib, he recited the Qur’an. I left him<\/span>
    \n after Maghrib. I said to one of his neighbours, ‘Our<\/span>
    \n Shaikh prays so much. It is really wonderful.’ He<\/span>
    \n said, “He had been doing this for the last seventy<\/span>
    \n years. You will wonder still more if you see his<\/span>
    \n prayers during the night.”<\/span><\/p>\n

    8. Masrooq (Rahmatullah alaih) is another Muhaddith.<\/span>
    \n His wife narrates, “He used to offer such long<\/span>
    \n rakaats that his legs would get swollen and I sat<\/span>
    \n behind weeping in pity for him.”<\/span><\/p>\n

    9. Abu Itaab Sulami (Rahmatullah alaih) is reported<\/span>
    \n to have been fasting during the day and weeping<\/span>
    \n during the night for full forty years.<\/span><\/p>\n

    10. It is said about .a Sayyid that continuously for<\/span>
    \n twelve days he has been offering his salaat with<\/span>
    \n the same wudhu. For fifteen years, his back had<\/span>
