Imaam Ahmad bin Hambal (Rahmatullah alaih) is<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> the famous Imaam of one, of the four schools of<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> Muslim jurisprudence. Besides being engaged in<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> his usual work, he used to offer daily three hundred<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> rakaats of nafl salaat. After he was lashed by<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> the king for refusal to submit to the royal edict, he<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> became very weak and reduced his routine nafl<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> salaat to one hundred and fifty rakaats. We should<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> not forget that he was eighty at that time.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 2. Imaam Shaafi&#8217;ee (Rahmatullah alaih) another eminent<\/span><!--more--><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> Imaam of Muslim jurisprudence, used to<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> finish reciting the Qur&#8217;an sixty times in his salaat<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> during Ramadhaan. A person narrates, &#8220;I remained<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> with Imaam Shaafi&#8217;ee for several days and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> found him sleeping only for a while at night.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 3. Imaam Abu Haneefa (Rahmatullah alaih) is famous<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> for his vigil. It is said that for thirty, forty or fifty<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> years (according to the information of different<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> narrators) he offered his Fajr prayer with the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> wudhu for Ishaa. He would go to sleep only for a<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> few minutes in the afternoon saying, &#8220;It is sunnat<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> to sleep in the afternoon.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 4. It is said about Sa&#8217;eed bin Musayyab (Rahmatullah<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> alaih) that for fifty years he offered his Fajr salaat<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> with the wudhu performed at Ishaa.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> Imaam Ghazzali (Rahmatullah alaih) on the authority<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> of Abu Taalib Makki reported the same practice<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> by no less than forty Taabi&#8217;ees, some of whom<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> had been doing it for forty years continuously.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 5. Muhammad bin Nasr (Rahmatullah alaih) is a<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> famous Muhaddith. His devotion to salaat had noparallel. Once while in salaat, he was stung on his<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> forehead by a wasp and though blood came out,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> neither did he stir nor did he allow it to disturb<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> his devotion in salaat. It is said that in salaat, he<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> stood motionless like a stick planted in the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> ground.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 6. It is reported about Baqi bin Mukhallid (Rahmatullah<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> alaih) that he used to recite the complete<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> Qur&#8217;an every night in thirteen rakaats of Tahajjud<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> and Witr.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 7. Hannaad (Rahmatullah alaih) is a Muhaddith. One<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> of his pupils narrates, &#8220;Hannaad used to weep<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> very much. One day after he had finished our<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> lesson in the morning, he continued to offer nafl<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> salaat till midday. He went to his place for a short<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> interval and then returned for his Zuhr. He again<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> engaged himself in nafl salaat till Asr. Between<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> Asr and Maghrib, he recited the Qur&#8217;an. I left him<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> after Maghrib. I said to one of his neighbours, &#8216;Our<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> Shaikh prays so much. It is really wonderful.&#8217; He<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> said, &#8220;He had been doing this for the last seventy<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> years. You will wonder still more if you see his<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> prayers during the night.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 8. Masrooq (Rahmatullah alaih) is another Muhaddith.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> His wife narrates, &#8220;He used to offer such long<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> rakaats that his legs would get swollen and I sat<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> behind weeping in pity for him.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 9. Abu Itaab Sulami (Rahmatullah alaih) is reported<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> to have been fasting during the day and weeping<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> during the night for full forty years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> 10. It is said about .a Sayyid that continuously for<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> twelve days he has been offering his salaat with<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"> the same wudhu.
